Lineage/Terms

Terms of service

The most important clause is section 3, and it is the one most platforms bury: Lineage is not your accountant, your adviser, or your broker. Knowing exactly where that line sits protects you more than any other term here.

Draft for review. Written to describe the arrangement accurately, but not yet through legal review for the jurisdictions Lineage operates in. Do not publish as binding until it has been.

1. The agreement

These terms govern your use of Lineage, a product of Lineage Money. By creating a household or using the service you accept them. If you are accepting on behalf of a practice or a company, you confirm you are authorised to do so.

2. What the service does

Lineage reads documents you supply, reconciles the figures in them, maintains a structured picture of what your household owns and owes, runs governance checks against that picture, computes your position and obligations, and lets you grant scoped access to family members and professionals.

3. What the service is not

This section matters more than the rest of the document combined. Lineage provides information, assessments and estimates. It does not provide regulated services.

  • Not financial advice. Nothing the platform shows you is a personal recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything. We are not a wealth manager, a broker, or a distributor, and we earn no commission from any product you might buy.
  • Not tax advice, and not a filing service. Computations are produced from the documents you supplied. A qualified professional — yours, or one you engage through the platform — is responsible for advising you and for any filing.
  • Not legal advice. Governance checks identify structural gaps. Acting on them — wills, nominations, transmission, trusts — requires a qualified professional.
  • Not a custodian. We hold records about your assets. We never hold the assets themselves, and we cannot move money.

4. Professionals on the platform

Where you engage an accountant, adviser or other professional, that engagement is between you and them. They set their own fees and are responsible for their own work and their own regulatory obligations. Lineage verifies credentials where it says it does, provides the shared workspace, and takes no cut of their fee. We are not a party to the engagement and we do not stand between you.

5. Your responsibilities

  1. Supply documents you have the right to supply, including for other household members whose affairs you manage.
  2. Review what the platform derives. A figure marked proven has reconciled against its own source, but you know things about your affairs that no document states.
  3. Keep your sign-in secure and your household membership current.
  4. Issue access grants deliberately, and revoke them when a relationship ends.
  5. Do not attempt to access another household’s data, disrupt the service, or use it to break the law.

6. Accuracy, and its limits

We work hard to be right, and we are deliberate about saying when we are not sure — that is the entire point of separating proven figures from estimates and flagging conflicts rather than averaging them. But documents can be wrong, sources can disagree, and rules change. The platform is a tool for seeing your position clearly, not a guarantee of it. Decisions with real consequences deserve a professional’s eye.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the service running continuously and will give notice of planned maintenance where we reasonably can. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and you should not treat the platform as the only copy of anything important — which is why export is always available and always free.

8. Fees

Current pricing is set out on the pricing page. Where a tier is free during the early period, that will not be converted to a charge without advance notice. If you stop paying, your household drops to read and export access; we do not delete your data because an invoice lapsed.

9. Your data

Your documents and the picture derived from them remain yours. We claim no ownership over them and acquire no right to use them beyond running the service for you. The privacy policy governs how they are handled, and the security model describes how those commitments are enforced.

10. Ending it

You can close your household at any time, for any reason, without asking. Export first — deletion destroys the encryption keys and is not reversible by us or by anyone.

We may suspend or end an account that is being used to break the law, to attack the platform, or to access data belonging to someone else. Except where the law prevents it, we will tell you why and give you the chance to export.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Changes

If we change these terms materially we will tell you in advance and say what changed. Your continued use after the change takes effect is acceptance; if you would rather leave, the export route is open and free.

13. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections in your own country of residence. Questions to contact@lineage.money.

The two pages that matter.

How your data is handled, and how the platform enforces it.
